I think this may have been the moment when I realized that we were in for something really special in Death Valley. Grand Canyon? An anticlimax...
Heading into Death Valley National Park, sunset nearing. We were hoping to get to Stovepipe Wells before dark, and we almost did. The shadow makes it look as though we were in a sedan instead of a Ford Explorer...just blame it on a drape of the mountainside.
